Road Trip Chronicles Vol. 7: Manassass and D.C.
So after the NASM Udvar-Hazy Center, I headed to Manassas, Virginia to spend the night at a Wal*Mart (for as much as I hate Wal*Mart's, they were oasies for cheap college students looking for a place to stay). But first, I decided to visit the Manassass Battlefield, where the Battle Of Bull Run was fought:

Manassass Battlefield Crossroads. The stone house on the right was a house used as a hospital during the battle. Apparently, the floorboards are still bloodsoaked.
Then I drove up to the Wal*Mart, parked in the corner of the lot next to another car, and fell asleep around 9 p.m. Around midnight, i awoke to flashing red and blue lights, and a flashlight knocking on my window with a guy saying: "Sir, could you please open your door."
Shit. So I open my door, and a police officer asks me for my drivers license. I gave it to him, and then he asked me where I was today and what I was doing here.
I said: "Ummm...today I was....I can't remember where I was today. I'm on my way to Massachussetts to visit some relatives..."
Police Officer: "And you were where earlier"
Me: "Ummm..."
Police Officer: "Alright sir, I'm going to go check this out (my drivers license).
So he came back handed me back my license, and by then I remembered where I had been, I told him, and he handed my license back to me and let me get back to sleep. The guy next to me was in trouble for driving without a license though.
The next morning I woke up and drove into D.C. However, I drove in at the wrong time, because I was too early to park in any of the spots on the street, and I eneded up paying $14 for a parking garage right across the street from the Air and Space Museum. Since it didn't open up for another two hours, I wnt on a self guided walking tour, using my Wal*Mart road atlas as a guide.
