Road Trip Chronicles Vol. 11: Deleware Valley Historical Aviation Association
Next stop: the DVHAA. I showed up at about 2:30 P.M., and the museum closed at 3 P.M. (the museum opened again at 5, so I wasn't in a hurry).
Douglas A-4 Skyhawk (Heinemann's Hot Rod)
Art on A-4's centerline drop tank
Grumman F-14 Tomcat
North American FJ Fury
Grumman F9F-2 Panther, panted up as baseball star Ted Williams aircraft (Ted Williams flew for the Navy during the Korean War)
Piasecki HUP-2 Retriever
CH-53 Sea Stallion
Grumman C-1 Trader
Bell UH-1 Huey
Sikorsky UH-34J Sea Bat
Convair XF2Y-1/F-7 Sea Dart
Vought F7U Cutlass (a.k.a. the Gutless Cutless, due to being underpowered)
Artsy shot of the Cutlass
Messerschmitt Me-262 B-1a, the only two seat Me-262 left
Something I didn't know: to start the Jumo 004's on the Me-262's, the pilot would pull the black ring in the center of the engine, which starts a small 2-stroke engine in that cone, which acts as a generator giving the aircraft electrical power to start the engines.
Lockheed TV-1 Shooting Star, the Navy version of the P-80.
And finally, as I was leaving I saw four Fairchild-Republic A-10 Warthogs on final
