Road Trip Chronicles Vol. 12: NYC
What was I thinking. I mean seriously, what the hell was I thinking. "I'll just drive right into the most congested city in the the country, and expect it to be as easy as pie."
Good plan.
Good plan.
The on ramp for the Lincoln Tunnel. It goes from six lanes on the ramp to only three toll booths. 'Cause that wouldn't cause any problems.
I finally got through the tunnel, and was inside the belly of the beast. The first intersection I came to, a guy in a truck next to me honked at me and yelled "YOU GOTTA BE FUCKIN KIDDING ME!" Oh boy, this is gonna be fun. So I drove the four blocks to the Intrepid museum, fully expecting there to be a parking lot nearby. Yeah right. I had to drive back the way I came four blocks to a parking ramp, and paid $18 for two hours of parking. (Also, I forgot to note to myself where I parked in the ramp)
I then walked the four blocks back to the museum. As soon as I got up to the counter to buy my ticket, planning on paying with my check card, their computer system crashed. It took them about 15 minutes to announce to everybody that they could take cash only. By this time, there was a huge line behind me out the door, so I had to leave, get to an ATM, and then wait in line.
